HOW MY BLOG STARTED
I am literally so happy that I gathered up the courage to start a blog. I have always enjoyed writing and have kept a diary now for the last three years or so since I’ve started university. I have always loved watching youtube videos and vlogs and reading about other people’s lives in their blog posts (does that sounds weird) that I sat at home thinking to myself that maybe that could be me too! The thought of writing about the issues that I care about and about my life to an audience that are interested (a miracle that there is one!), seemed so fun to me and so possible. So in January 2017 I started Hello It’s Jo, and here I am now ☺️, sat at my kitchen table writing this post as my pie cooks in the oven.
I spent days trying to find the perfect layout and theme for my blog. I was looking for the perfect header and the best widgets to display and I was asking everyone what they thought all the time. I didn’t want to start it without it looking perfect but it took me so long, that after a while, it made me think that actually.. it didn’t have to be perfect, I just needed to start it because that’s always the hardest part.
ADVICE TO NEW BLOGGERS
Piece of advice NUMERO UNO – write for yourself. Write about everything you love and write about everything that you’re interested in. Focus on your own thoughts and ignore the fact that there will be other people reading them. Figure out how to put into words everything that goes on in that crazy, complex and beautiful mind of yours and the audience will follow.
NUMERO DOS – Don’t obsess over new followers and blog stats and all those numbers. Appreciate and value the readers that you do have. Take some time to read their posts and comment on their blogs. Don’t get caught up with new followers to the point that you forget about your existing ones. Value them, reply to their comments and love them♥
I apologise if anyone of you have been nominated for this before but I’ve tried to choose a mix of people I interact a lot with and also people who I’ve just newly discovered, so of course don’t feel like you have to do this at all but I would love to read them if you do!
Thank you so so much for reading and I will speak to you all so soon ♥
